When I was a child, I used to take my mother’s camera and take pictures of absolutely anything. This is how my love for photography grew and grew. I was quite shy as a youngster and my photography helped me to express myself. I guess you could say that it gave me a voice. Below you will find some other reasons why I really love photography.

You Can Capture a Moment and Have it Forever

When you take a photo, you are capturing a moment. As long as you have this photograph, you have that moment. You can look at the photograph in ten years’ time and it allows to remember the moment fondly. Photographs, it is safe to say, are the best souvenirs.

With people being able to take photos on many different devices nowadays, I think that is something that everyone now takes for granted. If you were able to preserve a moment back in ancient Rome, you would be called a sorcerer, or even a god.

It Changes the Way That You Look at Things

When you start taking regular photos, you start to notice shapes, light, textures, colours, tress, buildings, and flowers in a different way. Everything starts to look a lot differently when you start to see the world through a photographer’s eyes.

Once you have started to notice the finer details in life, you will start to see just how much beauty really exists around you. Seeing the beauty in everything will help you get the most out of life.

It Helps You to Forget Your Worries

We all know how stressful life can get, but photography gives you the option of forgetting all of your worries for a period of time. If something is stressing me out a lot, I grab my camera, go out into the wide world around me and relax for a few hours. Just me and my camera.

It Helps You to Share to Perspective with Others

We all see things differently in life. For example, if you stick 200 photographs in a room, there is a very high chance that you will end up with 200 different photos. We all see the world in our unique own way, and taken photographs allows you to share this with others.

Photography allows you to express yourself and to let others know what your beliefs and opinions are. Believe it or not, but you can tell a lot about a person just by looking at their portfolio of photos.

It Helps You to Learn a Lot about Yourself

When you start getting more serious about photography, you will start to find out a lot more about what interests you, how exactly it makes you feel, and what you want to get across to those who might see your photos. You will learn more about yourself and what you value in life.

Photos Can Help to Make Others Happy

There is no doubt that photos can make people feel happy. Whether you have just taken a great portrait, managed to capture a special moment, or taken a couple of photos to help a friend’s business out, photography is something that can create a lot of joy, which is awesome in my opinion.

You Can Capture Your Pet’s Personality

Pets are part of many of our lives and anyone who has ever owned a pet will tell you how their beloved friend had its own personality. Taking photos of your pets allows you to capture their unique personalities, which you can then share with everybody that you know.

The Whole Process is Enjoyable

The whole photography process is enjoyable in my opinion. Taking photos is obviously fun, but there is a lot more to it than just that. Editing the photos that you take is an important part of the photography process and it isn’t as difficult as some people like to make out.

There are many tutorials available online that will teach you how to edit your photos like a professional. I often like to take a random photo and just play around with it so that I can improve my editing skills. The more practice, the better you will become.

You Can Witness True Love

Photography gives you the ability to witness true love. It is honestly amazing. You might not realise when you are taking the photo, but when you look at them later you will spot that telling smile, or that look in the subjects’ eyes.

It Allows You to Communicate with Different Cultures

Photography, some people say, is like music, and I have to agree. When it comes to photos, there are culture or language barriers. You can communicate with anyone with your images. Once you start showing off your work, you will come to realise the connections that it can help to build.

Photography is Something That Anybody Can Do

Photography does not care what age you are, where you are from, or what languages you can speak. So, get a camera, any kind of camera, and just start shooting. Practice a lot, think about the objects and events that you are shooting, and allow yourself to be opened up by the experience. Keep doing this and you will soon see why I think photography is so awesome.
